A CBS affiliate reports that the plane was a medical fight with a nurse and a well-known family doctor aboard along with two pilots who were flying with an unknown medical purpose. The flight was heading for Cozumel when it mechanical issues began to occur. It crashed into the Atlantic Ocean about three miles North East off the coast of Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood Intl. Airport. An airport spokesperson reported to NBC that the plane departed at 7:51pm. and had it’s last communication with the control tower at 8:20pm stating mechanical issues. Though this model, Learjet 35, can carry up to 8 passengers, it is unclear how many people were actually aboard. The U.S. Coast Guard recovered two bodies that have yet to be identified from the incident. A search party is currently still searching for two more that were confirmed on-board.
