Last year, she filed for divorce, claiming the following verbatim, "After a great deal of deliberation and prayer, I have decided to terminate my marriage to Bishop Eddie L. Long. Accordingly, I authorized my attorneys to file for divorce on December 1, 2011." However, the day right after that, she made a statement through Long’s New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, stating that she loves her partner and intended to withdraw the divorce proceedings. Later in that same day, her lawyer issued an additional statement saying she would follow through with her petition to divorce her husband. As listed on the Judicial Branch of Georgia website, “A dismissal without prejudice does not stop the plaintiff from re-filing the claim and proceeding as long as the claim is made timely (within the statute of limitations) and service can be secured.” Throughout the past few years, Eddie Long has been linked to a series of highly publicized sexual abuse schemes. Last year, Long’s church dismissed rumors that his wife had moved out shortly after Eddie Long settled a sexual misconduct lawsuit with four men for $15 million. Eddie Long was accused later that year of yet another sex scandal. Eddie and Vanessa Long share three children together; Eddie Long and his first wife, whom he divorced in 1985, have a son together.
