According to the study, 28.3% of all custodial parents had earnings below poverty levels in 2009, an increase from 23.4% in 2001. Another thing is that approximately half (50.6%) of custodial parents had a court order or some kind of contract to receive economical support from the noncustodial parent. Most of (90.9%) of these contracts were legal, while 9.1% were informal understandings or agreements. The study, Custodial Mothers and Fathers and Their Child Support: 2009, concentrates on the child support earnings that the country’s 13.7 million custodial parents stated obtaining from noncustodial parents living somewhere else and other kinds of support, such as non-monetary help and health insurance assistance. These parents with custody had care of 22 million kids under age 21 while the other noncustodial parents lived elsewhere, and 82.2% of custodial parents were the moms. Did you know?
