Both Walker and Rodas were declared dead at the scene by emergency responders. According to reports, Rodas died immediately as a result of the impact. Walker died from a combination of the traumatic impact and the fire after the car exploded. Neither of the men were under the effects of drugs or alcohol. There was much speculation after the incident that the two had been racing another vehicle or driving recklessly. The location they crashed was known to be a popular spot for drifting. Police were unable to find any evidence that drag racing took place, since there were no other cars involved. Even though there was no evidence to support racing, investigations did reveal that they had been driving in excess of 100 mph. The speed limit on the street they were driving on was 45 mph. The 2005 Porsche Carrera GT is known for being hard to handle for inexperienced drivers. The limited edition vehicle can reach the speeds that the two were traveling at in as little as seven seconds. Walker's family also stated that the reflectors on the street they were traveling on could have contributed to a loss of control had the car traveled over the bumps. The incident has raised many questions on what direction The Fast and Furious will go now that Walker is gone. While it has been confirmed that Walker's character will not be killed off, it is unclear how they are going to achieve this. Cody Walker, Paul's brother has been asked to step in to assist with the filming. As of now, an answer has not been confirmed.
